Role Summary

The Supply Chain Materials Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the materials management process, which encompasses planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products to fulfill organizational goals and customer expectations. This role includes directing and managing Purchasing, Production Planning, Inventory Control, Cycle Counting, as well as Shipping/Receiving and Warehousing functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to guarantee timely deliveries while minimizing carrying costs and expedited shipping fees.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Department to establish protocols and supervise the annual physical inventory process, including the valuation of year-end inventory.
  • Enhance material flow within the plant for Raw, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Oversee production control planning and scheduling to align with sales forecasts, ensuring adequate manpower and machine utilization. Investigate and address any deviations from the production schedule.
  • Facilitate effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding releases and deliveries.
  • Partner with Purchasing to manage the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services necessary for operations, while addressing any material shortages that may arise.
  • Establish and uphold ethical purchasing practices and policies, remaining informed on legal matters affecting procurement.
  • Lead initiatives to explore new materials, suppliers, and processes to enhance quality, reliability, pricing, and delivery.
  • Stay updated on market trends and material pricing that could impact company products.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems related to materials management.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring proper storage of purchased components and finished products.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping cost objectives.
  • Guarantee adherence to company standards and procedures across all Materials Department functions.
  • Motivate and develop team members to maximize their performance and foster personal and professional growth.
  • Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Relationships and Contacts

  • Reports directly to the Plant Manager.
  • Engages frequently with various organizational levels and departments.
  • Maintains regular contact with management and key personnel in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Corporate Transportation, Logistics, and Sales.
  • Occasional interaction with customers.
  • Consistent communication with suppliers and transportation resources to report developments and changes that may present opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience with demonstrated success in materials control, production control, inventory management, and shipping/receiving operations.
  • Familiarity with SAP and WMS software applications is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $89,800 - $114,100, influenced by factors such as experience, education, and work location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401k.
