Job Summary

Connecticut Children's is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to children and families in our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care to patients of all ages, from neonates to adolescents, with a focus on pediatric and neonatal patients.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat respiratory disorders, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pneumonia.
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans, including oxygen therapy, ventilation, and aerosol therapy.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to respiratory care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory care.
  • Current State of Connecticut license as Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (RRT).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Credentialed by the NBRC as a Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist.
  • Experience working in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
