About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mathematics Interventionist - Extended Term Substitute to join our team at Cambridge Public Schools. As a key member of our mathematics team, you will play a vital role in supporting student learning and achievement in grades 6-8.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support student learning of mathematics content and practice standards through individualized and small group instruction.
  • Empower students through differentiated math instruction, guided by district curriculum maps and research-based resources.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify unique student needs and develop effective strategies to address those needs.
  • Guide students in using mathematics software and technology to support instruction, when appropriate.
  • Develop and implement a variety of assessment tools and strategies to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs.
  • Participate in team meetings with grade level colleagues and district-wide Interventionist meetings.
  • Partner with families to include them in each student's learning and development.
  • Support Cambridge Public Schools' Strategic Objectives.
Requirements
  • Mathematics teaching experience in the middle grades with a proven track record of promoting high achievement in the classroom.
  • Experience differentiating math instruction for a range of learners, using techniques such as visual models, student discourse, and instructional routines.
  • Experience writing lesson plans with clear, attainable learning goals and aligned activities.
  • Experience using a range of assessments to analyze student learning and inform instruction.
  • Strong knowledge of Common Core/MA Curriculum Framework for Mathematics (Content and Practice Standards).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse staff, student body, and community.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.
  • Ability to be reflective and open to feedback.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Education strongly preferred.
  • Massachusetts Teacher Certification/Licensure in Mathematics Grades 5-8 preferred.
