Automation Systems Engineer

Position Summary:
This role offers a pivotal opportunity within a cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The selected candidate will engage with advanced automated systems that oversee production operations and data management. Reporting to the local IT OT division, this position is integral to the ongoing digital transformation aimed at optimizing operational efficiency and technology integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the management of all Manufacturing IT OT systems, assisting system owners and supporting site projects.
- Address immediate DeltaV (DCS) and Syncade MES issues during operational hours.
- Maintain and update system lifecycle documentation for both PCS and MES as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for requalification of thin client systems.
- Conduct periodic reviews, gathering data from deviation databases to assess the impact on system validation.
- Monitor systems daily and weekly, ensuring operational integrity.
- Attend coordination meetings to stay informed on global IT system changes affecting MES and PCS.
- Support System Owner teams in the lifecycle management of PCS and MES, including procurement, development, and compliance.
- Conduct user account management, including auditing and provisioning for all IT and OT systems.
- Generate reports and assist with document management systems.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in system or network administration.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to analyze and resolve issues at a systems level.
- Effective collaboration with stakeholders across various technical domains.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks calmly in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and independent.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in DeltaV (DCS) administration.
- SQL Database Server knowledge; familiarity with SQL Database Clusters is advantageous.
- Experience troubleshooting DCS, MES, and web service issues.
- Knowledge of MES platforms, preferably Syncade.
- Understanding of ASP .net web services.
- Network administration experience.
- Familiarity with industrial data and control interfaces, particularly OPC and OPC-UA.
- Comprehensive system administration skills across multiple platforms.
- Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
- Awareness of current trends in Manufacturing IT, including Smart Manufacturing and Cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and related regulatory standards.
