Job Description

Human Support Services, a non-profit community mental health agency, is seeking part-time Direct Support Professionals to teach daily living skills to adults with intellectual disabilities in their homes and communities.

We offer a competitive starting wage of $17.25-$21.55 an hour and a part-time sign-on bonus of $500. After 30 days of employment, employees will receive half of the bonus, and after 6 months, they will receive the other half.

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

  • Empower and support individuals to live self-directed lives
  • Support and advocate for people with intellectual disabilities
  • Teach independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, and emergency readiness
  • Promote health and wellness, including passing medication
  • Support individuals in building and maintaining healthy friendships and relationships
  • Teach coping skills and provide support to individuals in crisis
  • Help individuals gain access to community resources and participate in community events
  • Maintain accurate, concise, and current clinical documentation as required by state and federal guidelines

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Adequate transportation to move from site to site
  • Ability to drive a regular size and larger size van or willingness to be trained
  • Able to lift and walk flights of stairs
  • Emotionally stable enough to react appropriately to a consumer in crisis
