About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at PharMerica. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and meeting the pharmacy needs for hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, long-term acute care centers, and other specialized care centers nationwide.

Responsibilities
  • Enter data into computer system to fill prescriptions and to obtain reimbursement/payment, utilizing knowledge of drugs, medical nomenclature, and the metric system
  • Read and input written prescriptions and medical data, including performing drug calculations and interpreting physicians' orders into the computerized medication order system
  • Perform computer system operations which may include order entry, billing, crediting, and updating medical records
  • Input daily orders (new and refills)
  • Audit the input versus documentation and makes corrections as required
  • Generate reports as needed
  • Identify and resolve issues of denials or follow-up of claims, by maintaining current knowledge of Medicaid claim regulations and processes
  • Participate in orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation of Pharmacy Data Entry Technicians
  • May enter IV medication orders into medication order system
  • Perform Pharmacy Technician duties as required
  • Perform other tasks assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; National PTCB Technician Certification desired
  • One year experience in data entry in a long-term care pharmacy
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work as a member of a team, recognize and identify patient medications
  • Skilled in operating a computer
  • Skilled in performing detailed work
  • Knowledge of Medicaid claims regulations and processes
  • As required by state, technician licensure or certification in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas
