Pasteurizer Controller

We are seeking a skilled Pasteurizer Controller to join our team at Mt. Olive Pickle Company, Inc.

The Pasteurizer Controller is responsible for operating and monitoring pasteurizer functions to ensure proper pasteurization of products according to established company standards.

• Operate switch box controls to start pasteurizer and adjust temperature controls to set temperature according to company specifications.
• Open valves to allow steam into pasteurizer and adjust pasteurizer belts according to size and item run.
• Verify the belt speed with a ruler at the beginning of the shift and clean all screens in holding tanks throughout the shift.
• Check temperature of thermometers on each section of the pasteurizer and record readings every 45 minutes.
• Monitor HACCP and Quality critical limits for time and temperature every 45 minutes throughout the shift.
• Adjust cold water volume to get maximum cooling with minimum water usage for each product run.
• Record information on broken jars and jars returned to pasteurizer or capper.

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English required for job tasks.
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions required for job tasks.

Works inside, subject to some seasonal temperature variation with intermittent wetting from some job tasks. Some contact with grease and yellow food coloring. Fumes from hot pepper. Earplugs required due to irritating machinery noise. Head cover, beard cover, and gloves required.
