Pulmonary Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Pulmonary Care Specialist to join our team at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients with evening/night shifts and rotating weekends and holidays.

About the Role:
  • Deliver exceptional patient care by providing various respiratory modalities as ordered by physicians or approved protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and refine patient care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Evaluate prepackaged medications for accuracy, labeling them with patient information and verifying the correct drug, dosage, and form.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, supervisors, and care teams to discuss orders for respiratory care.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient data, including assessments, procedures, and education in the medical record.
  • Operate respiratory equipment according to established clinical and infection control practices.
  • Document patient safety issues in the safety intelligence system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all policies and standards.

Qualifications:
  • Educational background: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an approved and accredited program or university.
  • Licenses and certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA, Advanced Life Support (ACLS) by AHA, Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) to practice Respiratory Care.
