Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Imaging Procedures: Perform diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Patient Care: Provide high-quality patient care, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during imaging procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain radiological equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Electronic Medical Records: Accurately record patient data and imaging results in electronic medical records and PACS systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
  • Certification: Current certification or working towards certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, stretch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Work in a clinical, outpatient setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medicinal preparations.
Essential Functions
  • Developmentally Appropriate Care: Demonstrate competence in providing developmentally appropriate care for patients of all ages.
  • Radiation Protection: Apply knowledge of radiation protection principles to ensure patient, self, and others' safety.
  • Verification of Patient Information: Verify correct patient information, including identifiers and ordered exams.
  • Anatomical Knowledge: Apply knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to accurately demonstrate anatomical structures on radiographs.
  • Exposure Factors: Determine exposure factors to achieve optimal radiographic technique with minimum radiation exposure to patients.
  • Image Evaluation: Examine images to evaluate techniques, positioning, and other pertinent technical qualities.
  • Patient Care: Provide patient care essential to radiologic procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
