Position: Medical Biller
OVERVIEW: Responsible for managing insurance and billing activities related to the services provided to our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Accurately input charges to ensure proper record management and timely payment processing.
  • Initiate collection efforts for private pay accounts following insurance denials or cancellations.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
  • Verify the accuracy of insurance payments and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Identify and process secondary or tertiary insurance claims.
  • Maintain updated tables and inform management of any rate changes.
  • Investigate unpaid claims and liaise with patients and insurance providers to resolve issues and maintain billing efficiency.
  • Research denied claims and determine necessary modifications to ensure correct processing for maximum reimbursement.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients, insurance companies, or colleagues regarding assigned accounts, billing procedures, or appeals. This includes ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reimbursement requirements for assigned payers, as well as general knowledge for other payers.
  • Communicate any policy changes or issues to management for dissemination to relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with payer representatives as needed.
  • Foster a positive work environment and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork within the billing department and the organization.
  • Serve as a troubleshooter for accounts receivable issues and provide backup support for the overall system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this position, candidates must exhibit professionalism, proactivity, and a positive demeanor when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least six (6) months of experience in medical insurance reimbursement or relevant training; or a combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficient data entry skills.
  • Competence with computers and strong typing abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Language Proficiency
English (verbal and written)
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using a calculator.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in various formats. Ability to address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
