Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will provide occupational therapy services to students with special needs, working collaboratively with educators, families, and other support staff to promote student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer occupational therapy assessments to determine student needs and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide occupational therapy services, including individual and group therapy sessions, to students with sensory-motor integrative dysfunction
  • Collaborate with educators and families to develop and implement strategies to support student learning and development
  • Monitor therapy programs and consult with educators regarding inclusion of occupational therapy treatment strategies into educational programs
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide related therapy information
Requirements
  • Master's degree in occupational therapy or related field
  • Registered with the American Occupational Therapy Association and/or certified with the National Board of Occupational Therapy
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in pediatric therapy with emphasis on developmental disabilities and working in an educational setting
  • Valid Alabama driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working collaboratively with teams and families
  • Knowledge of Alabama laws and policies governing special education
