As a Medical Support Specialist - Plasma Center Nurse at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
Key Responsibilities- Donor Eligibility: Determine donor eligibility by conducting medical history interviews, physical examinations, and reviewing laboratory test results.
- Donor Reaction Management: Evaluate and manage donor reactions that occur at the facility, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and center physician's standing orders.
- Medical Guidance: Refer to the center physician or medical affairs when needed for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Employee Support: Support the hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees, as applicable.
- Incident Management: Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensure: Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Certifications: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification, and fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Experience: Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
