About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Scholar Coach. As a Scholar Coach, you will play a vital role in promoting scholastic engagement and helping students become better readers.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with classroom teachers to develop and implement effective reading strategies
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students to build their reading skills
- Track student progress and collaborate with the school's on-site coach to ensure student success
- Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software
- Represent Reading Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness
- Dependable and have a history of good attendance
- Able to understand and follow instructions
- Open to making improvements based on feedback
- Capable of setting a pace and maintaining a schedule with students
- Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
- Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
- Able to successfully complete a background check
- Up to $5176.50 in Education Award
- Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
- Time accrual toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program
- $1150 stipend paid every two weeks (for 35 hours of commitment)
