About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Scholar Coach. As a Scholar Coach, you will play a vital role in promoting scholastic engagement and helping students become better readers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with classroom teachers to develop and implement effective reading strategies
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students to build their reading skills
  • Track student progress and collaborate with the school's on-site coach to ensure student success
  • Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software
  • Represent Reading Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness
Requirements
  • Dependable and have a history of good attendance
  • Able to understand and follow instructions
  • Open to making improvements based on feedback
  • Capable of setting a pace and maintaining a schedule with students
  • Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
  • Able to successfully complete a background check
