Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at Smith Seckman Reid. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume responsible charge for projects within your experience and expertise, serving as the Engineer on Record (EOR) on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate project designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, provide input for operating procedures, and provide technical information.
  • Perform specific engineering studies and other design analyses using industry software.
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, or architects as needed.
  • Assist in the development of design approaches and concepts.
  • Evaluate the work of design colleagues and provide feedback and/or corrections.
  • Conduct project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and observe installed construction, making comments based on design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate associated construction and government standards.
  • Identify collisions and ensure collisions are addressed and resolved by design staff.
  • Develop the overall man-hour budget and be responsible for the man-hour budget within the discipline, developing workplans for discipline team in accordance with the budget.
  • Provide input, feedback, and updates on project schedules and plans work in accordance with the schedule.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects.
  • Assist senior technical staff in the development of technical documentation, proposals, and presentations to clients.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and clients to determine project scope.
  • Review work for technical accuracy and completeness prior to the final QA/QC review.
  • Maintain a continued focus on keeping up with industry trends and changes through continued self-education and training.
  • Actively participate in the local chapter of a professional organization where the technical reputation and professional image of the firm may be enhanced.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and/or developmental guidance of engineers, designers, and EITs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college with eight years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
