Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in the logistics and distribution operations at Acero Building Components. This position involves the proficient use of material handling machinery to facilitate the movement, organization, and management of inventory. The Operator is tasked with ensuring the safe and effective use of forklift equipment while also performing additional responsibilities related to order fulfillment and verification.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently stacks and stores both raw materials and finished products utilizing various types of forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Safely unloads incoming shipments and transports products to designated storage areas.
  • Prepares and organizes products for outbound shipping.
  • Verifies that the correct quantity and type of products are loaded for delivery.
  • Conducts picking operations in a manner that meets established customer service standards.
  • Moves products from staging areas into transport vehicles.
  • Operates all machinery in compliance with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Keeps accurate records and reports to maintain inventory integrity and security.
  • Assists with physical inventory counts as required.
  • Ensures proper rotation of stock to maintain product quality.
  • Conducts cycle counts as directed.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of safety practices in equipment operation.
  • Responsible for promptly reporting any safety issues to management.
  • Identifies and reports inventory discrepancies to the inventory control team and aids in resolving issues.
  • Completes necessary inspection forms prior to operating equipment.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 months of experience operating forklifts or similar warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 10-12 hours.
  • Capability to lift and/or pull weights of up to 50 lbs without restrictions.
  • Regularly bends, lifts, stretches, and reaches both above and below the waist.
  • Frequent walking throughout the distribution center, which may exceed a quarter mile.
  • Comfortable working in environments with varying noise levels, lighting conditions, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Availability to work irregular or extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Must obtain NFI forklift certification.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent customer service abilities, and basic mathematical skills are essential.
