Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Officer to join our team at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. The successful candidate will ensure a safe environment for our patients, staff, and visitors by conducting regular security patrols, responding to emergencies, and maintaining department records.

Responsibilities

  1. Emergency Response: Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers.
  2. Security Patrols: Conduct designated security patrols throughout the facility as directed, and may be required to patrol the hospital campus/grounds via security motor vehicle or bicycle.
  3. Incident Reporting: Prepare and submit reports and logs of all incidents, investigations, and activities, and maintain department records, reports, and files as required.
  4. Communication and Customer Service: Provide information and assistance to visitors, patients, and staff, and aid with wayfinding, parking, deliveries, and other requested information.
  5. Investigations and Testimony: Investigate incidents and accidents, gather information and evidence, and testify at legal proceedings, hearings, and trials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years related security, corrections, or law enforcement experience
  • Valid driver's license with endorsement A (Air Brakes)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Associate degree preferred
  • SPO (State of Maryland and/or District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department Special Police Officer) commission preferred

Compensation

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $31,610 per year, based on industry standards and location. This figure is subject to change based on individual qualifications and experience.
