About the Role:

The Certified Athletic Trainer will work under the supervision of the Lead Athletic Trainer and the Wellness Operations Manager to provide athletic training services in a team environment consistent with qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide athletic training services under the supervision of a physician, physician assistant, and physical therapist.
  • Work closely with Community Health and Wellness, Outpatient Rehab, and other hospital departments to provide services to designated schools, local organizations, and the community.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image and attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers, and others.
  • Adhere to policies and practices of SOMC and professional organizations.
  • Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence.
  • Collaborate with the physical therapist to develop new methods of delivering education to patients and families.
  • Participate in sporting events as requested by the organization.
  • Provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the physician, physician assistant, or physical therapist.
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment.
  • Document the course of patient care, including progress made and continuing need for treatment, to parents, coaches, and physicians.
  • Function as a resource for and provide team members with inservice/cross-training on athletic training knowledge and skill areas.
  • Participate in program quality management activities.
  • Collect quality review data.
  • Contribute to the delivery of cost-effective care.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an approved four-year NATA degree program in Athletic Training or equivalent field required.
  • BOC Certified AT required.
  • State licensure required.
  • BLS within 60 days of hire required.
  • BMVL Required.
  • Six months experience in athletic training-related field preferred.
