Lead Excess Underwriter

Position Overview:
The Senior Underwriter for Excess Casualty will be an integral part of our underwriting team, focusing on generating, evaluating, and analyzing accounts for both new and renewal Excess Casualty business.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with underwriting documentation standards and guidelines.
- Maintain a profitable underwriting portfolio.
- Adhere to company underwriting protocols and referral compliance.
- Cultivate and sustain essential relationships with brokers and agents.
- Engage in ongoing internal training and professional development.
- Stay informed on product updates relevant to the line of business.
- Lead strategic marketing initiatives with key brokers, dedicating up to 25% of time to this effort.
- Manage and develop relationships with new business and broker partners.
- Keep abreast of market trends concerning forms, coverage, and appetite to ensure competitiveness.
- Provide mentorship and training to Associate Underwriters and Underwriters.
- Serve as a referral authority for junior underwriting staff.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial underwriting.
- At least 5 years of experience in the Excess and Surplus (E&S) sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of applicable lines of coverage.
- Experience in broker management and marketing.
- Completion of relevant coursework towards an applicable designation is required.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Technical proficiency is a must.
