The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care, is in search of a committed Clinician Investigator to enhance our capabilities at a leading tertiary care teaching institution. The selected candidate will dedicate a minimum of 50% of their professional efforts to research initiatives, including clinical trials, translational research, and implementation science.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Development:
  • Act as the primary investigator for critical care research related to therapies, devices, or clinical pathways.
  • Possess current funding or a clear strategy for securing extramural/intramural funding to support research and scholarly activities.
  • Engage in research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science, and other recognized methodologies.
Medical Care:
  • Deliver clinical critical care services across various academic center critical care units.
Teaching and Instruction:
  • Educate and demonstrate relevant medical and research techniques to medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Contribute to departmental and divisional educational initiatives.
Mission Support:
  • Uphold the mission of providing the highest quality of care.
  • Meet teaching, research, and academic obligations.

We seek an individual who is enthusiastic about advancing the field of critical care medicine through innovative clinical and translational research, alongside exceptional patient care. A commitment to excellence in healthcare, education, and research is essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD/DO or equivalent degree.
  • Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency, subspecialty fellowship, and Critical Care fellowship from an ACGME accredited program, with board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Experience as a critical care investigator and clinician.
  • Strong dedication to the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Fellowship experience through an established Critical Care clinician and investigator.
  • Ability to secure research funding.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Kansas and Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification or eligibility in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Established experience as a critical care investigator and clinician.
  • Demonstrated success in clinical research, particularly within the realm of Critical Care Medicine.
