You are a skilled maintenance expert, fluent in both English and Spanish, who enjoys supervising while also engaging in hands-on electrical and mechanical tasks. You possess a positive, solution-oriented mindset and take pleasure in assisting both internal and external clients in sourcing the right components for their needs.

Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Leader is a proactive supervisor responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the nursery, EPS, and corporate office facilities and equipment. This role involves liaising with suppliers and vendors to acquire the necessary materials and contractors to complete maintenance tasks and projects within the allocated budget. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations, as well as legal standards related to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and assign daily repair work orders, including urgent requests.
  • Troubleshoot and monitor the progress of assigned work orders.
  • Supervise and assist tradespeople in completing their tasks.
  • Diagnose, service, test, and repair electrical and light mechanical issues.
  • Organize the maintenance shop, maintaining optimal inventory levels of equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor the physical condition of the property and promptly address any unsafe conditions.
  • Provide advisory support regarding equipment and facility needs and conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance, service requests, expenditures, and work status.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all submitted work orders to facilitate root cause analysis.
  • Establish and assess preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures throughout the department.
  • Foster a strong sense of teamwork among crew members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, along with five years of relevant industry experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience or trade school training in electrical and mechanical repair.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.
  • Clean criminal history and drug-free.
  • Good physical condition, capable of working outdoors for extended periods.
  • Able to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards and the ability to set a positive example for team members.
  • Current first aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain one.

Required Skills:

  • Basic understanding of greenhouse operations, quality, and productivity.
  • Manufacturing aptitude; ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work nights and/or weekends, with hours subject to change based on business needs.
  • Able to work indoors, outdoors, in warehouses, or greenhouses across all seasons.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to greenhouse conditions such as heat, cold, water, and dirt.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of solving practical problems and adapting to a variety of changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
