We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Perioperative Technician to join our team at Owensboro Health. As a key member of our operating room staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Surgical Procedures: Provide support to nurses and technicians during surgical procedures, including setup and preparation of operating rooms.
- Equipment Management: Identify and manage over 100 pieces of equipment, including fracture tables, positioning devices, and surgical instruments.
- OR Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and maintain operating rooms between procedures, including disinfecting equipment and disposing of biohazardous waste.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Utilize critical thinking skills to resolve complex issues and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Patient Transport and Positioning: Transport patients to and from operating rooms and assist with positioning patients for complex procedures.
- Inventory Management: Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, including ordering and restocking as needed.
- Specialized Equipment Knowledge: Possess knowledge of specialized equipment, including OR beds and accessories, and ensure proper function and maintenance.
- Specimen Transport: Transport surgical specimens to pathology, lab, or blood bank.
- Safe Lifting Techniques: Utilize safe lifting techniques and assistive devices to prevent injury.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Critical Thinking: Possess critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Independence: Work with minimal supervision and take initiative to resolve issues.
- Stress Management: Manage stress and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Learning and Adaptability: Learn and apply knowledge at a basic level, relying on senior staff for troubleshooting.
- Standing and Walking: Frequently stand and walk throughout the workday.
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lift and carry equipment and supplies, with occasional lifting of heavier items.
- Pushing and Pulling: Frequently push and pull equipment and supplies.
- Climbing and Bending: Occasionally climb stairs and bend to access equipment and supplies.
