Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist Job Overview

As a vital member of the healthcare team at Memorial MRI & Diagnostic, the MRI Technologist plays a crucial role in patient care and diagnostic imaging.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Licensure: Maintain a valid license as a Radiological Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Imaging Operations: Operate MRI scanners to obtain precise images as requested by physicians for accurate patient diagnosis.
  • Patient Interaction: Clearly explain MRI procedures to patients, ensuring they understand the process and feel comfortable.
  • Equipment Management: Prepare and manage MRI equipment, selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters for optimal results.
  • Patient Positioning: Accurately position patients for diagnostic imaging, assisting them on and off the MRI table as necessary.
  • Safety Monitoring: Monitor patients' conditions before and after scans, prioritizing their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Physical Requirements: Lift MRI coils weighing between 10-40 lbs as part of equipment management.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, demonstrating sensitivity to their needs and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols related to the magnetic field for patients, operators, and visitors.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient logs, equipment service manuals, and related statistics.
  • Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality is upheld at all times.
