Job Summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physicians seeks a skilled Sleep Disorder Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with sleep disorders in an ambulatory setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physician colleagues to provide day-to-day organizational and clinical direction and leadership of the healthcare team.
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments for patients admitted to or scheduled for service/practice setting.
  • Work with physicians to achieve service-specific outcome targets for key metrics, including clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities aimed at improving clinical outcomes and minimizing variation.
  • Develop clinical pathways in collaboration with physician leadership and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in and lead quality assurance activities, such as chart reviews and peer review, and establish standards of practice.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
  • DEA and CDS eligible.
  • CPR required.
  • ACLS/BCLS as required.
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
  • Demonstrates ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.
  • Demonstrates highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.
  • Maintains updated mandatory training.
  • Updates immunizations as recommended per practice area.
