The Senior/Lead Radiation Therapist plays a pivotal role in the Radiation Therapy Department, overseeing clinical treatment and simulation areas. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director (Chief Radiation Therapist), this position ensures efficient clinical operations and supports Radiation Therapist staff.
This individual must possess advanced knowledge and skills to operate equipment and perform treatment/simulations at a high level, serving as a resource for providers and staff. Key responsibilities include precepting new staff, assessing training/educational needs, and contributing to performance evaluations.
The incumbent will also be responsible for scheduling patients, coordinating patient services, and working with department leadership to develop and maintain policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver prescribed doses of high-energy x-ray treatment to patients with malignant diseases
- Supervise clinical experience of Radiation Therapist students
- Develop and maintain harmonious relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
Associates or Bachelors in Radiation Therapy or completion of an approved AMA certified program, with at least 5 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist in a hospital or large practice setting. RT(T) registration and NYS license or eligibility to practice as a Radiation Therapist are also required. CPR-BLS certification is necessary by the time of appointment.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Aria and Epic, as well as leadership experience.
Work Environment:This position is a Monday-Friday day shift with varying schedules.
