Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Electrician to join our team at Collin College. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the work of electrical journeymen, providing leadership and guidance in the efficient completion of assigned projects and PMs, and ensuring proper staffing and monitoring the quality, promptness, and actions taken by journeymen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the work performed by journeymen and provide leadership in maintaining, installing, and checking existing and/or new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations in coordination with facility plant operations managers.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper staffing and monitoring the quality, promptness, and actions taken by journeymen. Responsible for generating a balanced and equitable work schedule.
  • Prepare and submit work documentation, including work order submission, changes to the system, and takeoffs for construction projects. Supervise documentation prepared by assigned personnel.
  • Update and maintain electrical and special systems information and schematic drawings.
  • Responsible for reviewing existing electrical systems to determine the need for upgrading system(s) for energy efficiency and operation.
  • Install and maintain electrical systems including related equipment such as HVAC, boilers, controls, valves, VDs, elevators, etc.
  • Supervise for accuracy and efficient performance of all preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems/equipment.
  • Respond to, troubleshoot, and correct building electrical systems. Perform on-call duties as required during regular shifts, after-hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Respond to emergency calls during regular shifts, after hours, weekends, and holidays to correct or remediate the problem.
  • Actively participate and complete training, personal development, and continuing education.
  • Represent department management in the event of emergency situations.
  • Maintain compliance with national, state, and local codes.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience as a licensed journeyman in the electrical trade. A Master Electrician license is also required. Additionally, the candidate must have a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable with the college's insurance carrier.

This is a security-sensitive position, and candidates will be subject to a criminal background check.
