Job Summary

The Dietitian role at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values, adhering to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program. This position collaborates with the healthcare team to provide medical nutrition therapy, focusing on inpatient and oncology PRN fill-in help.

Responsibilities
  • Identify patients at high nutrition risk based on hospital criteria.
  • Assess nutrition needs and develop a plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients and family members on food selections and eating behaviors.
  • Manage the delivery of nutrition care services according to the site of care assigned.
  • Participate in performance improvement and mentor Diet Clerks and other support personnel.
  • Actively assess, evaluate, and maintain professional development and competency related to the position description.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in food and nutrition or dietetics.
  • Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Licensed Dietitian within the State of Illinois.
  • Maintain dietetic registration, state-required credentials, and/or licensure and continuing education requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Nutrition Focused Physical Exams.
  • Previous active role with hospital or department Performance Improvement projects or committees.
  • Experience in hospital clinical dietetics.
