The Project Engineer 3 plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager with various aspects of project and contract management.

Essential Skills:
  • At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience as the lead project engineer on projects valued between $5 million and $15 million.
  • Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) processes.
  • Certification in USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM).
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety and Risk Management
  • Prioritizes safety on all job sites and ensures compliance with safety protocols.
  • Conducts regular safety audits at job sites.
  • Maintains familiarity with all construction and contract documents, including:
    • Owner contracts and general conditions.
    • Project plans, manuals, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
    • Subcontracts and material agreements.
Submittals and Shop Drawings
  • Oversees the entire submittal and shop drawing process, which includes:
    • Organizing, scheduling, submitting, and tracking documents.
    • Conducting thorough internal reviews of all submittals and shop drawings prior to architect submission.
    • Ensuring timely reviews and returns to facilitate project timelines.
    • Distributing approved documents to relevant trades.
Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Manages the RFI process by receiving, researching, organizing, submitting, tracking, and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Distributes RFI responses to all relevant trades and team members.
Scheduling and Procurement
  • Assists the project team in developing and distributing project schedules based on guidance from the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Coordinates and tracks all project activities related to:
    • Subcontractor and supplier procurement.
    • Submittals, shop drawings, and necessary approvals.
    • Material deliveries and subcontractor mobilization.
  • Supports the Project Manager with procurement tasks as needed.
Change Orders and Revision Control
  • Maintains control logs for all project documents and revisions.
  • Processes change order requests from owners and subcontractors.
  • Evaluates the impact of changes on project schedules and costs.
  • Ensures distribution of change documents to all relevant parties.
Owner Architect Meetings
  • Participates in regular Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and maintains meeting minutes.
Project Closeout
  • Manages the collection and organization of project closeout documents, including as-built drawings, specifications, and warranties.
  • Ensures timely delivery and receipt of closeout documents and necessary materials.
  • Coordinates and documents owner training sessions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assists with permitting and occupancy certificate processes.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this role, the employee must be able to:

  • Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry weights of at least ten (10) pounds.
  • Perform repetitive hand movements for computer and office tasks.
  • Communicate clearly and understand spoken instructions.
