Job Title: Senior Nuclear Materials Engineer

Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Materials Engineer to join the FRIB Laboratory team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the engineering, testing, and certification of beam-intercepting materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the certification process for beam-intercepting materials, ensuring that specifications required by operational conditions are met.
  • Conduct material irradiation tests to characterize radiation damage in beam-intercepting materials.
  • Collaborate with national laboratories and international laboratories for Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) of irradiated materials.
  • Develop innovative materials that are more radiation resistant and thermally resistant than conventional materials.
  • Support efforts to address issues arising from beam-materials interactions.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Materials or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in nuclear materials with a proven track record.
  • Knowledgeable about high-temperature materials and radiation damage in materials.
