Job Summary:

The Space Operations Technician will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all operations and maintenance for communications systems. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance on the communications systems, assisting Vandenberg communications with troubleshooting equipment, and operating patch panels to help isolate issues with equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and control all operations and maintenance for communications systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the communications systems
  • Assist Vandenberg communications with troubleshooting equipment
  • Operate patch panels to help isolate issues with equipment
  • Isolate system faults to the lowest repairable unit and work complex problems in the communications system
  • Troubleshoot communications issues and work with base COMM to maintain and repair existing wire runs throughout the site
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety and security
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy within a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Zero to two years technician experience and/or knowledge of basic electricity principles are highly desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
  • Experience operating and maintaining communications equipment

Salary:

The hourly rate for this role ranges from $35.82/hr to $44.73/hr, determined by a Collective Bargaining Unit.
