We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at ProMedica Health System. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing technical support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and record patient medical histories and ocular histories
- Perform patient-specific ophthalmic testing and exams, including visual acuity, pupillary and muscle evaluation, IOP measurement, and visual field testing
- Assist physicians with minor office surgery, laser procedures, and intraocular injections
- Administer eye drops and therapeutic medications as instructed by physicians
- Provide patient education and instructions on medications and treatment
- Escorts patients to various areas of the office, including the reception area, dilating room, and testing areas
- Clean and sterilize equipment, and maintain autoclave in accordance with established guidelines and procedures
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Basic computer skills and ability to understand written and verbal directions
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with patients and staff
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate good judgment
