Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at ProMedica Health System. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing technical support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

• Obtain and record patient medical histories and ocular histories
• Perform patient-specific ophthalmic testing and exams, including visual acuity, pupillary and muscle evaluation, IOP measurement, and visual field testing
• Assist physicians with minor office surgery, laser procedures, and intraocular injections
• Administer eye drops and therapeutic medications as instructed by physicians
• Provide patient education and instructions on medications and treatment
• Escorts patients to various areas of the office, including the reception area, dilating room, and testing areas
• Clean and sterilize equipment, and maintain autoclave in accordance with established guidelines and procedures

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Basic computer skills and ability to understand written and verbal directions
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with patients and staff
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate good judgment
