Position Overview:
AMERISAFE is on the lookout for a meticulous and efficiency-oriented individual to join our Excellence Team. The Junior Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to accounting standards and reporting obligations for a publicly traded insurance entity. Responsibilities encompass the preparation and submission of regulatory compliance documents, tax returns, expense reconciliations, and accruals. Additionally, this role involves the preparation and posting of general journal entries, supporting both Statutory and GAAP accounting practices, and assisting in the compilation of data for financial reporting, including Statutory, GAAP, and SEC submissions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business, or a minimum of two years of relevant experience in the accounting sector is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and MS Outlook.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines consistently.
- Highly organized with a proven track record of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of necessary regulatory compliance documentation.
- Compilation and reporting of data essential for Statutory, GAAP, and SEC compliance, along with tax filings.
- Monitoring and ensuring the timely submission of compliance documents by the team.
- Preparation of general journal entries related to premiums, losses, investments, reinsurance, taxes, fixed assets, and general expenses as needed.
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts as required.
- Assistance in the preparation of financial statements and related documentation.
- Direct involvement in the input and maintenance of the general ledger and accounts payable systems.
- Analysis of internal controls within relevant accounting processes.
- Additional duties as assigned.
