Job Summary

As a Patient Observer at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others while working in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for patients who require one-to-one supervision, behavioral restraints, or line of sight monitoring.
• Conduct frequent checks on patients with a patient watch order and provide direction to patients to prevent falls or wandering off.
• Record and document patient behavior, including any incidents or concerns.
• Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to ensure the safety and well-being of patients under their care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required prior to performing patient observation. Training will be provided as part of new hire orientation.
• Previous work experience in a hospital setting is preferred, as is experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant.
• The ability to stay mobile and adapt to changing patient needs is essential, as is the ability to work in situations with isolation precautions.
