Job Overview

Bradford & Bigelow, a leading specialty printing company, seeks a skilled Platemaker to join our team. As a Platemaker, you will be responsible for exposing plates conventionally or digitally to ensure high-quality prints that meet company standards and customer specifications.

  • Key Responsibilities:

Ensure processors and plate setters are in proper operating condition.

Perform assigned maintenance activities according to departmental procedures.

Set up plates to be processed and process according to departmental procedures.

Inspect plates and proofs for adherence to quality standards and customer specifications.

Deliver plates to the pressroom for printing.

Maintain an adequate inventory of departmental supplies.

Participate in cross-functional teams to improve processes, productivity, and quality.

Complete special projects as assigned.

Maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents.

Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.

Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Maintain file management on RIP/Server.

Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements
  • At least one year of experience in the printing industry.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral).
  • High School or Equivalent.
  • At least 18 Years of Age.
  • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Excellent vision, including the ability to perceive color.
  • Capable of repeated standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs for 8-12 hours at a time.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to loud noises and moving machinery (PPE provided).

Candidates must also have the following skills and abilities:

  • Read and interpret work orders and production schedules.
  • Work with manufacturing management to achieve company goals.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Hagen data collection system.
  • Accept direction from supervisors, management, and peers to improve quality and performance.
  • Willingness to work together with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance.
  • Working knowledge, awareness, and compliance with ISO Procedures.
  • May require additional availability to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Manual Dexterity including the ability to operate plate processors and small hand tools.
