Position Summary

As a Senior Controls Engineer within our Metals Division, you will be instrumental in spearheading automation initiatives and optimizing control systems. Your role will involve collaboration with diverse teams to ensure that projects are executed efficiently and economically. You will oversee the specification of equipment, design of automation frameworks, and management of contractors for capital expenditure projects. Furthermore, you will disseminate best practices, lead team-oriented projects, and offer technical insights into industrial control systems, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and fostering innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee automation projects valued up to $25 million, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Conduct sessions to share best practices in PCC Controls.
  • Engage with various organizational teams and levels to facilitate collaboration.
  • Design and implement control systems and circuits to resolve industrial control challenges.
  • Provide technical support for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Remain informed about industry advancements and technologies to promote continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prior experience in industrial plant environments is advantageous.
  • Develop specifications for hardware and software related to communication systems.
  • Manage procurement of necessary equipment and services.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and proficiency in engineering and maintenance disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes within the metal sector.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Capability to provide technical support and guidance effectively.

Education and Experience:

  • Over 10 years of experience in controls-related automation.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Specialized training in preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.

Special Skills:

  • Expertise in electrical and control system documentation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD LT and PLC programming.
  • Understanding of industrial control circuits and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of motion control and network configurations.
  • Additional experience with programming languages and software applications is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an industrial setting.
