As an integral member of the Ithaca City School District, the following responsibilities are expected of the IT Applications Coordinator:
  • Deliver initial troubleshooting and technical assistance (via phone and in-person) for software and basic hardware challenges faced by end users.
  • Generate, update, and uphold the accuracy of reports and queries as requested by school districts for data analysis.
  • Stay informed about statewide reporting requirements and regulations.
  • Engage with and support school district administrators, principals, counselors, and clerical personnel as needed.
  • Facilitate data export and import from various applications for collaborative use with other software systems regularly.
  • Collaborate and troubleshoot with programmers, vendors, and/or network staff regarding software issues, modifications, or enhancement requests.
  • Formulate and execute procedures for managing projects and report requests efficiently.
  • Assess new software versions for vendors prior to their general release.
  • Install software, updates, and patches on user machines.
  • Independently oversee the maintenance of servers and software applications.
  • Showcase specialized software applications to school administrators, educators, counselors, and district support staff.
  • Coordinate the implementation of software upgrades and transitions.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure data integrity from year to year, including informing district administrators of responsibilities and testing outcomes.
  • Research, analyze, and consult with school district administrators and technology directors regarding available software for current and future requirements.
  • Guide less experienced staff on specifications and procedures for application support, report generation, state reporting, and query development.
  • Consult with the district to schedule and conduct training sessions on specialized software applications for school administrators, educators, counselors, and district support staff.
  • Participate in regular technology meetings to discuss software updates, issues, state-mandated data collection challenges, and other relevant information.
  • Evaluate, procure, and manage inventory supplies.
  • Attend instructional meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge of software programs and apply this knowledge to assist end users.
  • Create, update, and maintain training manuals and documentation for specialized software applications.
  • Compile and submit statistical and financial records to district personnel, state authorities, and federal agencies, ensuring compliance for budgeting purposes.
  • Interpret state and federal regulations and mandates for reporting purposes.
  • Organize meetings and consult with school district administrators to set deadlines based on state and district requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
