About the Role

Eaton Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled CNC Gear Tooth & Spline Machinist to join our team in Euclid, OH. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various gear tooth and spline generating machines to produce internal and external gear and spline configurations to precision tolerances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC hobbers, shapers, vertical broaching machines, and CNC mill, shaper, and hob to produce high-quality gear and spline components.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections and maintain accurate documentation on a variety of parts in accordance with ANSI Y14-5 and certified operator program.
  • Assist other operators on proper operational procedures and perform housekeeping and other job-related duties as assigned by the foreman.
  • Perform sub-assembly work and set up consists of balancing and securing wheels, dressing forms, and maintaining dimensional relationships using various dressing attachments.
  • Analyze and make required adjustments and corrections revealed by gear checking equipment.
  • Obtain sketches, layouts, tools, fixtures, and machine parts from the crib, stockroom, or other locations and change fixtures, cams, etc. as required.
  • Use various gaging devices, such as micrometers and M&M gear checker, to check dimensional aspects and have parts graph plotted when checking form.
  • Inspect tool cutters, maintain tool data reports, and recommend changes of tool cutter geometry.
  • Inspect completed parts, remove burrs, nicks, and toolmarks, straighten bent edges, and repair rejected parts.
  • Maintain accurate lot control (QCP 6.0) traceability, record keeping, log book entries, NCR's (QCP 11.0), and associated documentation.
  • Move material within the cell and perform minor machine maintenance.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Complete an Eaton-approved training program within 120 days.
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the work location.
  • Must become a certified operator within 40 days of becoming active on the code.
  • Pass ATC vision test.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in milling machines or gear generating equipment experience, including 3 years CNC machining experience.
