Job Summary

As a Medication Aide with SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with medication administration, ensuring accurate distribution and monitoring for potential side effects. You will work under the direction of a licensed nurse and maintain accurate inventory of medications at the beginning and end of each shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory of medications and ensure accurate distribution to residents.
  • Monitor residents for medication side effects and report any concerns to the team nurse.
  • Provide quality care to subacute and chronically ill residents, assisting with daily living activities and administering medications as needed.
  • Use equipment according to standards of care and policy/procedure, reporting any repair needs to the team nurse.
  • Monitor resident condition and report significant changes to the team nurse.
  • Participate in report at the beginning of each shift and communicate with the team nurse throughout the shift.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • One year of geriatric experience.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Medication Aide Training certification from TMU Wisconsin.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services or the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry.
Work Environment

As a Medication Aide with SSM Health, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, providing care to residents in a hospice home setting. You will be required to stand and walk constantly, with frequent use of hearing and speech to communicate with residents and colleagues. You will also be required to lift and move patients, as well as use equipment according to standards of care and policy/procedure.
