Overview

The Senior Data Warehouse Developer will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouse solutions for Worldwide Insurance Services. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Architecture
    • Lead the design and architecture of Worldwide Insurance Services' data warehousing solutions, leveraging expertise in data architecture principles and best practices.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data models, schemas, and architecture patterns that optimize data storage, accessibility, and performance.
  • Data Engineering
    • Manage the development of robust ETL and ELT processes for ingesting, processing, and transforming data from diverse sources into the data warehouse.
    • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of ETL pipelines, employing technologies and tools such as Snowflake, Rivery, DBT, and SQL.
  • Performance Optimization
    • Optimize the performance of the data warehouse environment, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and fine-tuning query performance.
  • Data Governance
    • Establish data governance policies, oversee data quality initiatives, and implement data validation and cleansing processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data stored in the data warehouse.
  • Capacity Planning
    • Assess the scalability requirements of the data warehouse infrastructure and develop capacity planning strategies to accommodate future growth and expansion.
    • Evaluate hardware and software options, design scalable architectures, and implement solutions that support increasing data volumes and user loads.
  • Security and Compliance
    • Work closely with security teams to implement access controls, encryption mechanisms, and auditing procedures to protect sensitive data stored in the data warehouse.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2, implementing policies and procedures to safeguard data privacy and integrity.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to data engineers, developers, and other team members.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, empowering team members to grow their skills and expertise in data warehousing technologies and practices.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Partner with stakeholders to understand their data requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that meet business needs and objectives.

    • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in data warehousing, assessing their suitability for Worldwide Insurance Services' data warehouse environment and recommending adoption strategies that align with long-term goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in data warehouse development and administration for on-premise and cloud data warehouse solutions.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including proficiency in T-SQL scripting, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Proficiency in Snowflake Data Warehouse, including designing data models, writing SQL queries, and optimizing performance.
  • Experience with modern data transformation tools such as DBT (Data Build Tool) for cloud transformation.
  • Experience training and transitioning on-premises resources to new cloud technologies.
  • Proficient in using Rivery as an extraction tool for data ingestion and integration.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
