Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Nurse to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our intensive care unit.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care plans.

As a critical care nurse, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a fast-paced environment, working with patients who require advanced medical interventions. You will also have the chance to contribute to the development of unit policies and procedures, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial conditions, identifying individualized care needs and developing effective care plans.
  • Care Coordination: Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to implement and coordinate patient care plans, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Patient Education and Support: Provide education and support to patients and families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
  • Leadership and Charge Nurse Responsibilities: Function as a preceptor to new staff members and assume charge nurse responsibilities, delegating tasks and supervising unit activities.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Proficient in the use of computer software, including electronic patient records.
  • Experience: Two years of med/surg experience preferred, critical care experience preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required within the first year of employment.
