Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician Job Description

At Patient First, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, handle, and process specimens for testing, ensuring compliance with laboratory procedures and quality control policies.
  • Perform various laboratory tests, including but not limited to, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology.
  • Document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Identify and address any issues that may impact test performance or reporting of test results.
  • Order and receive laboratory stock as needed.
  • Understand and perform all duties associated with the position, as outlined in the laboratory's checklists.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, as defined by Patient First and OSHA.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster a positive, professional atmosphere.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Keyboarding experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • One year of clerical experience preferred.
  • One year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Minimum 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in chemistry, biology, or related science.
  • Registered Medical Technologists (M.T.) or Medical Laboratory Technicians (M.L.T.) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other recognized certification agency of medical laboratory professionals preferred.
