Project Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at AKF Engineers. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and conducting work that requires judgment regarding the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare basic deliverables and products, including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Evaluate fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements, and industry standards.
- Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.
- Assist in the preparation of commissioning specifications and basis of design documents and during design and submittal reviews.
- Assist in developing proposals and responses to RFPs on commissioning projects.
- Assist in the documentation processes and assist in the development of procedures related to commissioning activities.
- Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss future and/or current projects.
- Responsible for meeting the client's project and financial goals and objectives.
- Assist in business development by pursuing new work, including participation in client presentations.
- Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals, and contractors.
- Assist in the firm's human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members.
- Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, and obtaining certifications in areas of expertise.
- Interstate travel is periodically required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited engineering program.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with a consulting engineering firm, commissioning firm, or contractor.
- Working knowledge of MEP building systems and commissioning requirements of LEED and LEED AP certification.
- Good understanding of the architectural, engineering, and construction industry.
- Experience with sustainable design practices or facilities operations is preferred.
- Possess clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and work effectively as part of a project team.
- Ability to meet and exceed client expectations.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with Deltek Vision or Project Resource Management software is preferred.
