We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Higher Education ADA Counselor to join our team at Houston Community College. As a key member of our community, you will play a vital role in advancing the institution's commitment to academic excellence, student success, and inclusivity.

Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Student Support Services: Provide counseling services to students with disabilities, including career assessment and counseling, crisis intervention, and academic advising.
  • Accommodations and Accessibility: Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure accommodations are implemented consistently across campus and in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Disability Resources: Develop and maintain resources for students with disabilities, including assistive technology and adaptive equipment recommendations.
  • Community Outreach: Establish relationships with local organizations to provide referrals and support services for students with disabilities.
  • Counseling Services: Offer individual and group counseling sessions to students, addressing various challenges such as academic difficulties, personal struggles, and career exploration.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to promote a culture of inclusivity and respect for diversity.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Counseling or related field (e.g., Education, Social Work, Psychology).
  • Licensure: Current licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Psychologist.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience counseling adult populations, preferably in higher education settings, with 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft).
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is estimated to be around $ 65,000 - 80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Houston Community College offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
