Job Summary

CSX is seeking a skilled Dock Laborer - Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and performing various laborer duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including dump trucks, cranes, and coal pushers/dumpers
  • Maintain mechanical parts of conveyors and bulk material handling equipment
  • Operate and maintain diesel pushers, electric and gas welding equipment
  • Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various materials
  • Perform periodic service on machinery and equipment
  • Operate car retarders and electrical switches
  • Perform clean up activities in the dock area and other general laborer duties
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Heavy mechanical repair experience
  • Experience operating heavy equipment
  • Outside work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and/or Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Welding certification
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 83 pounds on a rare basis
  • Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection
  • Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
Work Environment

Work safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries. Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, or safety-toe boots. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work.
