Natural Gas System Maintenance Specialist

This role is responsible for executing technical tasks related to the upkeep of the natural gas utility network. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and documenting usage data from gas and water utility meters.
- Identifying and addressing malfunctioning meters.
- Diagnosing issues and performing necessary repairs.
- Installing meters for new service accounts.
- Disabling and securing meters due to nonpayment.
- Maintaining and painting system infrastructure.
- Conducting inspections of regulator stations.
- Administering odorant injections.
- Participating in the construction, maintenance, and repair of natural gas system infrastructure.
- Excavating gas lines using various tools including hand tools, backhoes, and trenchers.
- Locating and fixing leaks, along with conducting leak surveys.
- Performing landscaping tasks such as mowing and trimming grass.
- Utilizing a range of hand and power tools.
- Carrying out related responsibilities as needed.
Applicants under serious consideration will undergo a history check to review the past two years of DOT employment for any violations. A pre-employment drug screening will be mandatory before hiring into a safety-sensitive role. A negative DOT urine drug test is required prior to assuming a safety-sensitive position.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Relevant experience to grasp the fundamental principles associated with the primary duties of the role, typically gained through an apprenticeship/internship or similar positions held for one to two years.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, the necessary training as mandated by the Railroad Commission.
