Job Title: Behavioral Health Clinician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Clinician to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Services department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with mental health needs.

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Clinician will be responsible for providing individualized treatment, support, and advocacy to individuals enrolled in our Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) Programs, Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), and Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Model and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals, families, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial intake and assessment/evaluation to gather pertinent information for individualized treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address specific identified needs, including psycho/social skills, self-esteem, depression/suicidal ideation, symptom control, anxiety, and independent living skills.
  • Provide social work and specialty interventions through individual, joint, or group counseling sessions.
  • Document each individual session and write progress notes to track progress toward long- and short-term goals.
  • Perform case management services for individuals who require intervention, including treatment and community referrals, advocacy, psycho-education, and crisis intervention.
  • Act as a liaison with other agencies and departments involved in an individual's care.
  • Complete discharge paperwork within regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, assessments, and treatment plan formulation as a coordinator of services for a caseload identified by the Behavioral Health Services Program Manager.
  • Provide specific assessments within scope and expertise to individuals enrolled in behavioral health services.
  • Meet quality and productivity standards as defined by management and regulatory/funding entities.
Requirements:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Model.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with a strong understanding of the person-centered approach and empowerment philosophy.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage time effectively and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals, families, clinicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record according to guidelines established by The Resource Center's insurance carrier or equivalent accommodations required.
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional clinical staff with a master's degree in a mental health field from a program approved by the New York State Education Department.
  • Registration or certification by the American Art Therapy Association, American Dance Therapy Association, National Association of Music Therapy, or American Association for Music Therapy.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
