Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Job Summary:
The University of California, Irvine is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our team. As a per-diem nurse anesthetist, you will provide anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-operative assessments, write pre-op orders, and administer anesthesia under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
- Monitor patients intra-operatively, ensure safe emergence, and assist with post-operative care.
- Knowledge of current nursing, anesthesia, and critical care techniques, including pharmacology, dosage, side effects, and contraindications of all drugs employed in anesthesia practice.
- Ability to identify patient need for various monitoring modalities, safely insert venous and arterial monitoring lines, and recognize airway abnormalities and their associated anesthesia implications.
- Perform airway management techniques, including safe insertion of nasal and oral airways, laryngoscopy, and endotracheal intubation.
- Recognize return of consciousness and reflexes signaling safe emergence from anesthesia, transport patients to the recovery room, and provide informed report to qualified medical personnel.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid California Nurse Anesthetist license.
- Valid California Registered Nurse license.
Working Conditions:
This is a per-diem position, requiring flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, call, and holidays.
