Job Description:

At Steampunk, we are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Data Exploitation Practice, you will be responsible for designing and developing data models, data warehouses, lakes, and lakehouses, data governance, services, and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and architect migration of data environments with performance and reliability
  • Experience in crafting database / data warehouse solutions in cloud (Preferably AWS. Alternatively Azure, GCP)
  • Helping build the structure and design of the database
  • Implementing security measures for the data
  • Controlling access to the database
  • Building different environments for development, testing and production
  • Merging and migrating data when necessary
  • Updating and patching systems to maintain compliance
  • Designing and implementing data backups
  • Restoring lost data
  • Continually monitoring database systems

Requirements:
  • Ability to hold a position of public trust with the US government.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a scientific or technical discipline
  • 7+ total years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience with large-scale data migration
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience designing storage and retrieval solutions for both structured and unstructured data, in support of data science pipelines
  • Strong command of SQL tools
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
  • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience working with SQL and relational databases, query development and optimization (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases, such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and others.
