Job Overview

Position Summary:
This role involves the operation and oversight of specialized machinery used in the candy manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to this position, with additional tasks assigned as necessary:

  • Ensure adherence to food safety and quality standards, promptly reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Make necessary adjustments to the mogul and associated equipment to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
  • Guide candy makers and production staff in the effective use of equipment to complete production tasks.
  • Conduct inspections of all produced items to verify compliance with product specifications.
  • Monitor board and stroke weights on an hourly basis.
  • Complete all required documentation, including start-up checklists and tracking sheets.
  • Perform changeovers on the mogul and its accessories as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Assist in calculating and reporting production volumes as needed.
  • Manage loading and unloading processes for trucks and materials related to the mogul operation.
  • Safely operate manual and powered pallet jacks, and potentially other specialized lifting equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the work area throughout the shift.
  • Work collaboratively in other departments as assigned.
  • Fulfill any additional duties as required.

Quality Assurance:
It is crucial to uphold the quality of work and implement food safety and quality procedures relevant to assigned tasks.

Safety Reporting:
All safety incidents must be reported immediately, along with any food safety or quality concerns to the designated authority.

Work Environment:
Employees are expected to maintain a safe and sanitary work area. Regular attendance is essential for this role, and adherence to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding wages, hours, and working conditions is mandatory.

Qualifications:
To succeed in this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; three to five years of relevant experience or nine months of structured on-the-job training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Competence in basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong reasoning skills to address various operational challenges.

Physical Requirements:
Employees must be able to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods, with the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds independently.

Work Environment Characteristics:
Employees frequently work near moving mechanical parts in a loud environment.
