Job Summary

Vertis Therapy is seeking a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team on a PRN basis. As a therapist-owned company, we prioritize providing high-quality, patient-centered care to our clients in the South Bend and Mishawaka, IN area.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with physician orders, utilizing therapeutic procedures to address deficits in self-care skills and daily living abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring quality and efficiency in occupational therapy services.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide support and information within the area of occupational therapy.
  • Conduct thorough functional assessments of patients, including home and vocational needs.
  • Document patient progress and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.
  • Revise treatment plans as needed, and instruct assistants in treatment procedures while providing close supervision.
  • Orient patients to program services and treatment procedures, informing them of potential risks during procedures.
  • Work with nursing staff, patients, and families to maximize patient functional abilities.
  • Establish and instruct patients and families in exercises and therapeutic procedures to be continued following discharge.
  • Assist in the referral process, maintaining current knowledge of community resources.
  • Attend and participate in rehabilitation team conferences, department meetings, and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with five years of direct practice experience.
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice.
  • Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying occupational therapy principles, methods, materials, and equipment to the patient population served.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adequate computer skills to complete required job duties and computerized documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
