Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Telecommunications Administrator to join our team at Sandoval County, NM. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, planning, designing, coordinating, evaluating, and maintaining the network and communications infrastructure and systems for the County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer all moves, adds, and changes to the County's Call Manager system, including onboarding new users and establishing new DID's and local extensions.
  • Perform daily changes to call hunt groups, call routing, and system voice prompts, and deploy and manage various telecom and network devices related to telephony.
  • Maintain an inventory of all telephony devices and recommend upgrades and purchases as needed, and serialize, store, and identify all County telecommunications equipment.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on VoIP, Voice Gateways, SIP, and other low-voltage voice and data lines as they pertain to fax, fire, and security.
  • Manage all upgrades to the phone system, serve as a liaison between the County and associated vendors, and act as the primary contact for projects related to the phone system, network cabling infrastructure, and telecom.
  • Manage the deployment of services and telecommunications infrastructure to new facilities and locations throughout the County, and establish new service and manage the installation and implementation of services by the vendor.
  • Collaborate and serve as systems administrator for the County Dispatch Office, working with existing staff to maintain E911 emergency communications and radio telecommunications.
  • Serve as backup liaison to the local PSAP office for E911 services.
  • Research and present emerging technologies and future telecommunications options to the County, and evaluate new phone systems or upgrades to phone systems either on-prem or cloud and present findings of fact on the evaluation to management.
  • Participate in the annual budget process, manage applicable vendor contacts, maintain up-to-date pricing on requested quotes, provide justifications, and maintain documentation of all hardware, software, and equipment related to telecommunications contracts.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field and five (5) years of full-time experience in telecommunications administration, which includes two (2) years Call Manager or similar telecommunications server management platform, one (1) year experience with Voice Over IP and SIP solutions.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico driver's license within 30 days of hire.
  • Within 3 months of hire, attest to the understanding of Keri's Law and section 506 of Ray Baum's Act.
  • Within 6 months of hire, acquire CJIS - Criminal Justice Information System certification and must be able to pass CJIS background check.
